Information
Tools and Materials
I pride myself on delivering an accurate portrait that captures the character and spirit of the subject at an affordable price. I use only the highest quality artist materials, and my tools of choice are Faber Castell Polychromos, Caran d'Ache Luminance and Caran d'Ache Pablo pencils. These pencils are colour fast, meaning the colour of the drawing will not fade with time. The paper I use is extra smooth Bristol Board 100% acid free.
Subjects
I am able to produce portraits from special occasions such as christenings and weddings as well as any photograph of a special moment your family has shared. Portraits of treasured pets are a particularly favourite subject of mine. Whilst I work with coloured pencils, I am quite happy to produce monochrome portraits as well.
Caricatures
I am fascinated by the art of capturing faces and I love the simplicity of the caricature, a subject that has long been of interest to me. I now offer this style of portrait as it brings a fun element to a personalised drawing.
Source Material
I work from photographs, either originals or copies. These can be sent via Mail, Email, Messenger or Whatsapp. Originals can be returned to you after the portrait is completed.
When it comes to source material, the clearer the photograph the better. Photos taken in daylight/natural lighting result in a better quality portrait than those taken in artificial light, specifically the eyes need to be well lit. It is said that the eyes are the window to the soul! If you have any queries or uncertainty about the quality of the photograph you would like me to work from, I am happy to discuss and to help you choose the best photo.
Timescale
These drawings take time and love to complete so if you are commissioning a Portrait for a special occasion, please contact me as early as possible to make sure it can be completed in time. The time taken to complete a portrait depends upon the size and complexity of the subject.
Framing
I am more than happy to frame the artwork based upon your requirements. I can advise on frame styles and prices etc if needed. I also know that choice of frame can be down to personal choice and am equally happy to provide the artwork unframed, leaving the final choice of frame to you.
Delivery
Portraits will be sent Royal Mail next day delivery signed for. Actual delivery charges will be dependent upon the size and nature of the artwork, and whether it is framed or unframed. Unframed portraits will be sent in a stout cardboard tube. Framed portraits will be well packed in bubble wrap and cardboard.
Guarantee
On completion of your portrait I will email you a photograph of the finished artwork for your approval. It is very important to me that you are happy with the finished drawing. I am able to make minor alterations at this stage to make sure that you are completely satisfied. If you are not 100% happy with the finished drawing, then you do not pay. Should you decline the portrait, then I retain the right of ownership and the right to add it to my portfolio.
A portrait will be a much loved and treasured heirloom that can be passed on to future generations.
